3T MAGNETOM VIDA MRI

UH-NRU hosts a 3T MAGNETOM Vida MRI scanner XA60, located at Rambam Medical Health Campus, Haifa.

MAGNETOM Vida is Siemens’s newest MR scanner. It incorporates the technological advantages introduced by PRISMA (the popular model for research in the past 10 years) into a clinical-friendly setup.

The MAGENTOM Vida is designed to go beyond Prisma by optimizing the protocol for an individual. Vida has an inbuilt tailored and improve shimming and internal filters to reduce distortions and artifacts. Vida maximizes comfortably for the patient (participant) by introducing a wider boar (the tunnel).

The MAGNETOM Vida is a whole-body scanner. UH-NRU includes coils and sequences to image all body parts. Specifically for the brain, we have the 20 and 64 channels head coils. The scanner has inbuilt sensors for recording respiration, pulse oximeter and ECG

UH-NRU has a research agreement with Siemens, enabling us to develop, exchange, and install sequences from other sites. Currently, we have installed the fMRI and DTI multiband sequence used by the Human Connectome Protocol and the H1-MRS protocol from the University of Minnesota’s CMRR.

Vida is also used for routine clinical scans by the Radiology Department of Rambam Medical Health Campus.

Testimonial experiences from the Vida:

“I immediately identify images from Vida”  A radiologist.

“It was alright, not as bad as previous times. I felt much more comfortable.” a participant

“I am impressed that in 1sec (TR=1sec) we can obtain a whole brain coverage with high resolution and low signal-to-noise T2* images.” a researcher
